Quick Look at Black & White Lists
Filtering your contacts into black (blocked) and white (accepted) lists can help you manage your business contacts better and avoid unwanted calls and callers. Use these lists to:
- Block unwanted calls by area code
- Prevent wasted minutes
- Save time for your business
- Improve efficiency and productivity
What are Black & White Lists?
This free feature allows you to create lists by area code: black (blocked phone numbers) and white (accepted phone numbers). Anyone calling from an area code on the black list will be unable to reach your local or toll free phone number. Anyone calling from the permitted area codes on the white list will be able to place the call and reach your business. Furthermore, you can accept or block specific phone numbers. For example, you can blacklist bothersome telemarketers or whitelist known business contacts, friends, and family members.
Benefits of Using Contact Lists
Through the United World Telecom’s Control Panel and telecom system, you can strategically select which area codes can connect to your local or toll free numbers. The most significant advantage of this feature is the time and money that it saves you.
For example, you own a US business, but you are unable to extend your services to locations outside the continental U.S. Taking calls from Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, etc., would be a waste of time for your sales personnel. These phone calls will also consume your monthly call forwarding minutes. With the list feature, you can simply block the call before it reaches your company.
Another example, individual customers often use call forwarding and a local number to stay in touch with friends and family in a foreign country. A common strategy to keep your call minutes consumption low and reduce costs is to simply whitelist only your friends and family. This essentially blocks any unwanted telemarketing or sales calls.
There is a range of options regarding how you manage calls and where they are redirected to. You can choose to divert all blacklisted calls to voicemail to prevent an overload of calls sent to your receptionist. Overall black & white lists have a number of benefits that greatly increase the efficiency and productivity of your business.
